  1. 1 3/4 sticks of butter
  2. 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  3. 1/4 cup brown sugar
  4. 3 eggs
  5. 2 teaspoons vanilla
  6. 1 teaspoon baking powder
  7. 1 teaspoon salt
  8. 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  9. 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  10. 1 14-ounce can sweetened condenced milk
  11. 40 pieces (unwrapped) soft caramels
  12. 1 teaspoon flaked sea salt
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare a 13x9 by spraying with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to combine the butter and sugars until well blended and creamy. Add eggs, vanilla, salt, and baking soda. Mix until smooth.
  3. Add flour until combined. Add chocolate chips.
  4. Press half the dough into the prepared pan.
  5. In a medium saucepan, combine the condensed milk and caramels and cook over medium hear, stirring frequently, until caramels are melted.
  6. Pour the caramel mixture on top of the dough in the pan. Drop teaspoonfuls of the rest of the dough over the caramel sauce.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the center is just set. Sprinkle with sea salt. Allow to cool completely in pan before cutting into bars.
